When it is about weather in Croatia then you can roughly divide the country into three zones: the north east, the highlands and the Mediterranean. Croatia offers everything from hot summers by the coast to cold winters in the mountains.
The annual average temperature for the entire country is at about 14°C, the rainfall depends on the location but ranges from 600 mm in the eastern parts of the country up to 3.850 mm in the mountains and the region of Dubrovnik. In the mountains snowfall is nothing unusual which is ideal for those who like to go skiing.
Like mentioned before, there are three main climates in Croatia. The one in the north east is the continental climate and covers most parts of the country. Hot summers and cold winters are characteristic for this area.
The second climate is the one that can be found in the highlands; the south and the heart of Croatia. Summers here are mild and temperatures in the winter can go down to -5°C to 0°C. Snowfall is nearly guaranteed.
On the coast you will find the nicest weather in Croatia. The Mediterranean climate offers mild winters and dry and hot summers with minimum temperatures of 5°C in winter and up to 30°C in the summer.
Zagreb is the capital of the country and its climate might be interesting for those who are looking to buy property here. The average annual temperature is 12°C with lows of 2°C in the winter months and highs up to 27°C in July and August.
